Leaf Bar and Lounge
CHALLENGE: Rising prices in Manhattan and proximity to the airport and sporting venues make Flushing an attractive place to live or stay. A new Hyatt Place had an empty F&B space at their rooftop in downtown Flushing and wanted to provide the young, hip, local crowd with a “nicer” place to lounge.
SOLUTION: Our first actual vanilla box. So that was nice. Although, working with an entirely unbuilt space is a challenge in itself. Getting proper permitting to install major electrical and mechanical equipment as well as working with a big developer were new for us. Leaf was conceived as a rooftop oasis, where hotel guests and locals alike could gather to enjoy a signature cocktail or host an event. Large accordion doors and Leaf’s homey bar–entirely clad of wood from Reclaimed Brooklyn–provide an airy and natural ambience amidst a bustling city.
